A Mediterranean casita in Santa Eulària, Ibiza

Ibiza, the echo of waves and bustling streets decorated with stalls, is well-known for projecting itself in searching minds. If Spain was a living body, Islas Pitiusas would be the heart since the festive spirit here keeps these labyrinths of streets pumped with cheer. However, despite its eminence, it could be a safe haven for those who seek it.

A few kilometres from Ibiza Town, Santa Eulària's quieter version of Ibiza awaits those who long to push aside the grim thoughts and responsibilities and let out that sigh of relief they have been holding down for aeons. Santa Eulària is the epitome of Spanish culture, a locus of captivating scenery and a fitting location to benefit from the beckoning sight of scattered houses. All that with a hefty slice of peace.

Being able to spend a day or a week here is a blessing in its own right, and it is without a doubt worth each penny to wake up where the wind flows with the message of serenity. Wanderlust took L'escale to the crossroads of everything nice—right in front of an entrance to a paradigmatic Mediterranean style house. The owners and builders expanded their creativity and skills to a modest house nearby, equipped with a genius design of a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and lounge. The bedroom in a place so exquisite somehow made the dreams just as comely, and the large, comfortable bed probably had a lot to do with it. It is evident that the homely establishment has been created with a getaway in mind because the presence of a well hidden corner in the garden is not a coincidence. If it is, nature definitely colluded with the architects. The owners were kind enough to rent it on Airbnb, and while the casita and pool is shared, the owners are sure to not cause any disruption. The effort of the owners and the beauty of the place itself, makes it  a true hands-on experience. All in all, the casita makes a quintessential choice for two.

The casita interior

Throughout, a well-equipped place. Not too overcrowded either, designed in such a way that there is enough room to walk around without feeling claustrophobic. Everything was put together and set in a way that made the little house look almost spacious. The theme of the furniture remained minimalistic and yet eye-catching. It was a house of textures, no doubt. From the natural feel of wood as soon as you palm the door to take your first look to the final and gentle strokes on the concrete wall before you bring your stay to a half-hearted end, the natural feel of wood remains till the very end. The illusion of a darker shade of crème highlighted even the slightest of browns. The desire to fill the space with the calming aroma of coffee is almost unavoidable. The kitchen is equipped with the option of either a Moka express or a regular coffee machine, making sure you can fully enjoy a slow morning routine . Whatever route you take, the result is bliss, and once you do set a foot in the kitchen, you’ll find cooking most therapeutic. Fortunately, there is enough to satiate the urge to cook a simple, easy, and delicious meal.

Eat, sleep, repeat

Falling into a routine is easier said than done, especially if you are somewhere totally new but L’escale had no problem doing just that. The day began with the privilege of silence and comfort. The place filters out any noise, which helps to elevate the mood. This makes the mornings especially serene. And with the leisure of supermarkets being merely minutes away, a fresh and up to liking breakfast would always make its way to either the dinner table, snug couch or the bed. A clear pool shining under the sun would wait for you with open arms if you did decide to step out. The blue-green colour from the pool seemed to be a great addition and complimented the house well. It served its purpose and made the stone floor stands out.

After enjoying the crowds in Ibiza, this trip was very much appreciated. Picturesque vistas, lovely beaches, and quaint villas, strewn on the hills away from the party scene. It is a whole little world on its own, the temptation of having all that space to yourself is undeniable.

It works like a meditation after a workout, helping us to decompress and reconnect. Nevertheless, a healing place. In such a milieu, some time at casita can be truly appreciated. If you ever get a chance to visit there, try to see beyond the hustle bustle, it'll pleasantly surprise you.
